Ruth Murray
BA Hons, PG Dip, Cert MRCSLT, HCPC Registered Speech and Language Therapist
Having completed a BA Hons (first class) degree in Linguistics in 2003, I undertook a Postgraduate Diploma (distinction) in Speech and Language Therapy at City University, London, qualifying as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2005.
I have worked with children and young people between the ages of 3 and 19, in clinics, mainstream primary and secondary schools, primary and secondary speech and language units, and special schools. This variety of settings has enabled me to become experienced in working with children with speech sound delays and disorders, language delays and disorders, social communication difficulties, stammers, and selective mutism.
After working within the NHS for 14 years, I made the decision to set up in independent practice so that I could focus on working with children with speech difficulties; an area I find really interesting and rewarding to work in. I have four children of my own, and working independently also allows me the flexibility I need to take care of them.
I now work with children and young people with developmental speech sound difficulties, from age 3-years upwards. I also offer therapy to adults who would like to work on any residual speech sound difficulties from childhood.
I am a registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), as well as the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
